Grant funding helps launch Gloucestershire Credit Union’s new website

Gloucestershire Credit Union has improved its digital access for members with the launch of a new website.

As part of a new digital implementation programme to improve the credit union's service to members, GCU has launched its new website. "It's a fresh, clean look and reflects the communities which our members come", says Executive Director of GCU, Al Jack.

GCU previously introduced a web portal and app which allowed members to access and manage their accounts, however, feedback from members and partners indicated that it became difficult to navigate as new pages and features had been added over the years.

Enabled by a grant of over £4,000 from the Unity Trust Bank Credit Union Development Fund, which welcomes applicants undergoing digital or technology projects, the credit union worked with local marketing consultants and designers to produce an attractive and easy-to-use website. The new site has been optimised for mobile devices and allows users to easily find information about the services GCU provides.

Al Jack added that the new website has come at a time when the credit union’s services are more crucial than ever before, Al said: “We feel that digital access is particularly important for those who live in the rural areas that we serve, especially as poor transport links make it difficult to travel to our office.

“In the past two years we have seen our lending increase by over 300% and much of this growth has come through our digital channels. We are also attracting younger savers and borrowers who expect to access their money and accounts 24/7 via a web portal and associated phone app.”
