Exciting times for NHS Credit Union

It’s been a big few weeks for the NHS Credit Union – with a new mobile banking app being launched; a successful recruitment campaign in Fife that has seen membership increase by more than 60% - and a new Chief Executive taking up office.
The credit union’s new mobile banking app began to be rolled out to membership earlier this month, it has proven popular with over 2000 regular users. Alongside the launch of the app, a membership drive began in Fife, with the NHS CU team undertaking a number of site visits round local hospitals and health centres.
Supported by UNISON and the internal communications team at NHS Fife, the campaign has produced incredible results. The first five weeks have seen membership of the credit union in Fife increase by 63.2%. Total membership of the entire credit union now exceeds 18,000.
In the midst of all this activity, NHS CU also welcomed a new Chief Executive, as Ruth Dorman took over from Robert Kelly (now CEO of ABCUL). Reflecting on her first couple of days in the post, Ruth said: “I knew I was joining a successful organisation and the success of the App and the Fife campaign certainly shows we are moving in the right direction. I look forward to welcoming more members into our financial family and continuing to help care for the financial welfare of NHS Staff from Shetland to Sheffield.
“I firmly believe that working together at a strategic level we can contribute to the discussion and the influence that credit unions bring to the strategic development and direction of financial services and poverty reduction in Scotland and beyond. Working together, we can exert a positive influence on the direction of travel and shape of the future for members, and in turn, broader communities”.
